DRIVERS: for wheelchair
residents’ outings. Person
with class 4 licence to drive
bus, also person with regular
licence and own car. Due to
grant cutback, this is an
urgent need in order to
provide summer outings for
residents in care facilities.

CLERICAL WORKER to

answer telephones and do
some record-keeping work.
Volunteers needed in
Highlands, Seycove and
lower Losndale areas. Good
way to get acquainted with
your community.

SEWER to assist in
preparation of splints
(straps, collars, etc.) Once a
week for half a day.

GROUP FACILITATOR
for a self-help group with
family members at home
experiencing early senility

disease. Leader should be
able to give encouragement,
support and arrange
meetings. Good opportunity
to gain skills in group work.

VISITOR for an elderly

woman in West Vancouver.
Good opportunity to brush
up on your listening skills.
OFFICE WORKERS for
two to three hours a week to
give information to seniors
about community _ ser-
vices/resources, also to
interview prospective senior

volunteers. Suit retired
people looking for in-
teresting work.

CO-ORDINATOR to
organize drivers for cancer
clinic. Help is needed for
this essential service.

GROCERY SHOPPER
urgently needed for an 87
year old woman living on her
own. Young at heart but
unable to get out.

St. John’s recognized

Rising prices, high cost of
health care, interest rates up
- these are all too common a
headline. There is a group of
volunteers who do
something to combat costs.
St. John uniformed
volunteers gave 80,000 hours
of their time to teaching and
giving First Aid coverage at
public events.

On Sunday, .une 20, 300
of these dedicated people
will be on parade to be
inspected by Bngadier His
Honour H. Be!'- Irving, the
Lieutenant-Governor of
Bnush Columbia. This will
be a colorful af. 1u, with the
band music be ng supphed
by the North Vancouver
Youth Band.

Refreshments will be
served after the awards
ceremony. The public is
cordially imvited to attend
and give support.

place at Carson Graham
Secondary School, 2145
Jones Ave., North Van-
couver on Sunday, June 20
