Before hitting the slopes
this season, skiers should be
sure their equipment is in
top condition. One of the
ways’ to ensure this is to
properly maintain skis now
so that you don’t have to
worry when the snow flies.
Whenever you're ready to
ski, so is your equipment.

Today's high performance
ski equipment has made the
sport a more enjoyable and
rewarding, not to mention a
safer, experience. But only
when those new multi-action
bindings. ski brakes, and the
skis themselves are’ func-
tioning as they should, can
you really enjoy using them,
as well as avoid accidents
from binding malfunction.

Unfortunately, as every
skier knows, all that
equipment is constantly
exposed to some pretty
tough conditions. including
road salt while on cartop
carriers, snow and ice, and
hard usage. And when
moisture gets into ski bin-
dings.. they can easily
become rusted or corroded
and fail to release properly
at critical times.

Chena Swim Club played
host to West Vancouver in a
development ribbon meet
October 23.

More than 60 swimmers
from the four sections of
Chena and West Vancouver
had a great ime competing
for ribbons.

For some it was the first
‘real swim meet tn which
they had ever competed,
while others used the meet
to lower their tames in
preparation for the Lower
Mainland Mighty Tykes 10
and Under Championship.

something to avoid this, by
using a simple spray-can
product that has emerged
from the developments of
space technology. A water
displacer is an effective
Maintenance aid for skiers.
Sprayed on bindisgs, it acts
as 4 penetrant Jubricant,
cleaner, and rust preven-
tative, penetrating water and
ice build-up to free sticky
bindings and providing an
effective barrier against
future moisture damage.

“Such a_ water-displacing
agent is formulated to
penetrate into pores and
provide a continuous
molecular film on metal
surfaces on ski bindings,
metal edges. The spray
product breaks the moisture
barrier, lousens the rust-to-
nfetal bond, and ensures
lasting protection.

This particular product
was used initially to displace
moisture and prevent rust on
Atlas missiles, and has since
found hundreds of uses
including a wide range of
consumer applications.

carriers and for the day's
skiing, but should repeat it at
the end of the day — and
before storing the skis at the
end of the season. This type
of non-oily product
lubricates and seals metal
surfaces with its protective

coating, and helps ensure.

Because the water-
displacer contains no
silicone, it won't leave a
residue or become sticky or
gummy. Bindings will
remain easy to operate.

idea both at the beginning of
the season, and periodically
after, to have binding set-

locks, and can be used to
lubricate boot buckles and

Freestyle in 39.4, while Ben
Climo, 10, did the 50 Fly in
44.2.

Personal bests were
recorded by Andrea Wilson,

‘li. in the 100 Freestyle

(134.2) and John Gray, 11,
with a time of 135.4 in the
100 Freestyle.

Winter Club in second

North Shore Winter Club
is in second place in the
West Coast Junior B Hockey
League after 8 games.

The North Shore team has
10 points, 6 less than the
league leading Seattle NW

Americans. The Winter Club
has won 5 and lost 3 games
while Seattle has won all 8 of
its games.

The Winter Club is only 2
points ahead of the Grand-
view Steclers.
