underway at the:

B.C.L.T. gymnasium in,

Burnaby.

A total of nine , ‘clubs will
be competing in the four

events.

_ The first North Shore
Invitational was'‘heldin 1974
with three teams competing.
Since.that time, the meet has ~
grown beyond the |= space
available on the North Shore.

The hvest Notth Shore
team is chosen from the
three sponsoring clubs,
flicka, Sparca and West
Vancouver.

This year the North Shore

* will field two teams, ‘A’ and_

‘B’. Members! of the ‘A’
team are Catherine. Bates,
Anita Botnen, Cindy Calkin;
Elaine Prescott, Valerie -
Smith and Susan Woyat.

Vancouver and Rob Baylis
of North Vancouver have
been selected to the
National team that will leave
Monday, January 29th and
return February 13th to
compete in the Speedo

International meet in.

Amersfoort, Holland,

February 2-4 and in the Tilt

(Arena) International meet
in Paris, France, February
10-11

They will travel with
teammate Andy Ritchie of

"Hosted by local club.

etfes of Winnipeg, Gym-
nastics Incorporated from
Seattle and the Puget Sound
Rainbows of ~* Portland,
Oregon.

The program gets under-
way ‘Saturday morning at
eight a.m. with finals going
at eight p.m.

Vancouver to Toronto,
where they will join the rest
of the team.

This past weekend coach
Billi Rose and four of his
Dolphins participated in the
CAMO Invitational meet in
Montreal. Top invitee was

‘Tracey Caulkins, of Nash-

ville, Tennessee, who won
three gold medals and set
three world records at the
World Swimming Cham-
pionships in Berlin last
summer. +

fared well with Richard Nagy
winning the 200 m Fly, 200 m
Individual Medley and 200 m
Backstroke. Rob Baylis
placed 2nd to Canadian
recordholder Peter Szmidt in
200 m, 400 m and 1500 m
Freestyle. Judy Baker won
the 400 m Individual Medley
and 800 m Freestyle, while
Suzanne Kwasny placed 2nd
in 200 m Backstroke and, 3rd
in 100 m Backstroke.
