CAPILANO-HOWE Sound MP Herb Grubel will soon
be awarding the Plucked Goose Award to the most
wasteful government spending programs. .

The West Vancouver economist hopes to make the
first annual presentation in May.

He will make his setection with input from the public
and his fellow Reform Party MPs.

_ In an effert to have the award produced on time,
‘.Grubel has extended an invitation to Canadian artists to
-submit designs fora statue: approximately one-foot high,

made of Canadian wood, and a base large enough to affix

small, commemorative plaques.
The statue is to represen nt a fleeing, half-plucked

The’ award is being called the plucked goose because

Louis XiV’s finance minister Jean-Baptiste Colbert said,
“The art of taxation, consists of plucking the goose while

". The plucked-goose award is designed to encotirage

hissing by the Cariadian public and to result in increased
