On Monday, the French Immersion staff and students and Sentinel hosted a crepe breakfast for the clementary school’s Grade 7 students soon to be making the transition to Sentinel. Healing session set for women NORTH Shore Crisis Services is starting a violence prevention program, and is took- ing for participants. The goal of the Home Free project is to raise aware- ness in our community of vio- lence against women in rela- tionships, and look at what we can do to stop it and bet- ter prepare our children. The project will bring together a small group of women who have survived abuse and rebuilt their lives. In a series of workshops participants will tell their sto- ries through images and words. The women will be guided through gentle cre- ative movement and theatre exercises, playful explorations of paints, plaster casting, clay, sculpture and collages made of found objects. They'll also be encouraged to bring forward their own arts and crafts skills, such as sewing, weaving, crocheting, and finishing —_ furniture. They'll also be shown creative ways to keep journals. The group wili design a creative display for the North Shore for Together Against Violence Month, which takes place in November. Throughout the project, North Shore Crisis Services aims to provide a safe envi- ronment: for women to explore their shared stories. The project is seeking eight to 12 women who have experienced violence in rela- tionships, regained stability in their lives and would like to contribute to stopping the violence against women in 2 creative way.
