OF course there is always

a loc of stuff in the freezer,

or some of thuse extraordi-
nary packages that turn into
a dish of macaroni and
cheese when wetted. You
would likely not starve in any
event.

T see these loose groups
of boys in the afternoons,
caps on backwards, huge
trousers, going by in knots
of five or six, no books in
sight. They look to be totally
free of care
and responsi-
bility, but for
all I know they
are potential
rocket scien-
tists.

Why not just
mind my own
business? A
fussy old lady,
living in the
past, I should:
mind my own
business.

But actually I
think the
world is my
own business
since I am liv-
ing in it for
another while;
and the collapse of the struc-
ture of the family is of real
concern. .

1 am referring to the chief
loosening element, the
increase in divorce between
parents plus the other con-
comitant, the-what-you-
could-call monetary emanci-
pation of women.

The family, as a unit, is
still called that, but there are
nowadays a lot of groups of
people that are referred to as
family simply because they all
live in the same apartment. I
wonder how it will turn out.

Perhaps like Russia, where
children are born as a contri-
bution to the cause. We have
seen on the television, the
public nurseries with three
and four children in a crib
and those sturdy Russian
matrons in charge of their
whole bringing up.

Well, vou and I are old
now and haven't any clout in
this or any other area, so the
best course is io carry on,
fussing as usual,
