West Van shoreline teeming with fish SUMMER HAS finally arrived and so have our salmon runs. By David Korsch Contributing Writer The most consistant location over the last couple of weeks has been the West Vancouver shoreline (from Pt. Atkinson to the Capilano River). Most of the fish taken are coho (three to seven lbs.), but there are also a few chinook (10 to 35 Ibs.) and sockeye (four to seven Ibs.) as well. The best bait at the mouth of the Capilano seems to be cutptug her- ring, as its flashing action catches the lion’s share. Use one to four ounces of weight in close to the mouth of the river and idle around until you find where the schools are holding. On the flood tide and the first half of the sbb, try around the eastern monih of the river (in the bay). At the end of the ebb tide, the western mouth (near Ambleside) is the best. The most popular fishing loca- tion is actually a bit further west, near the Dundarave pier. This area is much larger and has slower tidal movement; therefore, it is a fair bit easier to fish. All fishing methods are producting fish. If you are going to troll hootchies, white or glow are good starting colors (15’ to 40°). If vou need any information on booking a charter with David or have any questions about the local fishing, call 980-7907. Team Up Today!
