IT’S A major coup for the
golfing fraternity in
Canada, in B.W. and in

particular in West Van-
couver. That’s because
Canada and the Royal
Golfing Association have
just received word from the
officials in New Zealand
that they have been the suc-
cessful bidders for the 1992
World Amateur Golf
Championships! The B.C.
golf people have worked
diligently to get these
championships here and
they have every right to be
proud of their accomplish-
ment.

The women golfers will play the
first week at Marine Drive, while
the men will play the second week
at Capilano. There will be players
from 55 to 65 countries involved.
This means that, along with their

various entourages, there will be
close to 1,000 people involved di-
