GIRL GUIDES from the Lions
Area group will celebrate Guide-
Scout Week with displays in Park
Royal North Mall and Capilano
Mall from Thursday, Feb. 19 to
Saturday, Feb. 21.

Guide-Scout Week is an annual
observance held during the week of
Feb. 22 which is the joint birthday
of Lord and Lady Baden-Powell,
the organizations’ founders.

Feb. 22, called Thinking Day, is
celebrated each year by all girl

guide and girl scout members.
Thinking Day was established in
1926 with the idea of circling the
globe with a chain of warm,
friendly thoughts.

A few years later it was sug-
gested that guides everywhere give
‘ta penny for their thoughts’? and
from that was born the World

Researcher speaks on salmon

UNDERWATER MARINE
researcher Charlie White of Vic-
toria will present a special one-day
salmon fishing seminar at Carson
Graham Secondary School.
White’s presentation, which will
take place Saturday, Feb. 2! from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be part of
the Night School in a Day program
put on by North Shore Continuing

Educaiion.

White is the author of nine
best-selling books on salmon and
marine life and is best known fcr
his underwater TV research on fish
strike behavior. His close-up slow
motion pictures of how fish attack
lures have been viewed by
biologists across North America.
