Sports MIDGET AAA TEAM New hockey season Starts at THE NORTH SHORE Wiater Club Midget AAA hockey team finished the recent exhibition season with six wins and one tie. Victories included a 9-5 win over North Surrey, a 7-5 win over Grandview, a 9-3 lambasting of Langley, a 5-4 win over the North Van Rec team, and a 8-4 win anda 6-6 tie against the Victoria Raquet Club, The illness ridden Winter Club NORTH SHORE Men’s Interme- diate Hockey League action over the Oct. 25 and 26 weekend saw Holiday Blazers and Bert’s Drillers battle to a 6-6 draw. Steve Clippendale had an outstanding night contributing a hat trick and two assists for a five-point night. Glen Young scored two goals for Bert's. Other action saw Larry’s Sports defeat Anvil Glass 8-5. The Friends, meanwhile, blitzed L.A. Tavern 6-2. Saturday night’s action saw a third period goal by M. Playing on a wet and muddy field, the Saints pressed hard early in the game and Jim Mason scored his third goal in two games to put the North Shore team into the lead. : The Saints appeared to be taking control of the game, but a mistake by Lorne Loiselle allowed New Westminster to draw even. But the Saints managed to settle down. After some fine Saints scor- ing chances, Ken Powers forced the New Westminster defence into conceding a goal just before half-time.
