Boneless pork butt roasts
are an excellent: buy this
week at Safeway -- $1.38 tb.
Try this for a small, one-
meal size roast.

Spicy Pork Roast
1 small pork roast (about
2-1/2 Ibs.)
Garlic powder, seasoning
salt, cracked pepper
2 tablespoons grated onion
1 tin baby food strained
peaches (or upricots or ap-
plesauce)
1/2 cup barbecue sauce

Rub the roast liberally
with the seasonings and
place on a large, double
sheet of heavy duty tinfoil.
Combine the onions,
peaches and barbecue sauce
and pour over meai, cover-
ing all sides.

Seal the package and
place on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 300F for three
hours. Rotate the package
two or three times during
baking to distribute the
sauce.

steaks this week at $1.49 Ib.
Tf you're fed up with fryisig
them (or Shake-and-baking)
try this. The original recipe
came from an Italian friend
of mine who served the
Sauce over spaghetti as a
first course and then served
the pork with potatoes and
vegetables as the main
course. That’s just too much
food for our taste — we're
happy with the pork,
spaghetti and a green salad.

Italian Pork Steaks
3 pounds pork steak, bones

removed and excess fat cut -

away.

1-24 oz. tin stewed tomatoes
1 tin tomato paste
1 medium onion, chopped .

Brown the pork in a heavy
skillet. Remove the meat,
season and set aside. Cook
the onions and pepper in the
pan until golden, stirring to
get all the brown bits. Add

tomatoes, tomato paste,
herbs and sugar. Stir well
and add the meat. Cover and
simmer about 45 minutes cr
until the meat is fork tender.
Uncover und cook until the
sauce is quite thick.
