Reminds me of.a
cereal commercial.
Or maybe a TV sitcom.
Actually it’s supposed to be the

name of a'70s sitcom that made a -

child star out of Mike Chapman
- (Michael }, Fox) whose timeless
‘catch line was, ‘‘Do | get time off
for good behavior?” °
Well, maybe it wasn’t so timeless.
Now that he’s 31 and all grown
up; he’s running achild talent ©
agency with his brother Ed, But by
grown up, | don’t mean mature.

‘He misses the occasional day —
‘or even month —‘of work and

consists of a “one-bedroom pigs-
ty with various bimbos and a 32-
inch TV.” But when their talent
business is hinged on one obvious
kid actor, things get shaky — until
Angie Vega (Christine Vidal) gets
caught stealing wallets.

Mikey watches as she puts on an
award-winning sob story to wriggle
out of arrest and naturally signs
her on the spot.

The obvious conflict occurs

- when she, being a very mature

10-year-old, and certainly his su-
perior in savvy, tries to rehabilitate
him. Or at least get him to throw
out milk that’s way past its expiry
date instead of pouring chunky

Now,-! know this film is aimed at
10- to 15-year-olds, but | still can’t
help but complain about the
musical score, a sappy blend of TV
cues that comes off like a silly |
symphony, On the other hand, the
script doesn’t exactly rise above
the standard video fare either so
maybe it was fruitless to try any-
thing a little more high brow.
