There are a number of North Shore residents prepared to volunteer their time and energy to heip with income tax — and several of these volunteers are prepared to go to seniors’ homes if they are “shut-in”. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C. will again offer free income tax preparation for Seniors with annual incomes of less than $9,000. (This includes bank interest and other invest- ment income, as well as pen- sions). Appointments are being made now for March at the following North Shore loca- tions: Kiwanis Lynn Manor. ina 984-9166; Silver Harbor Cen- tre, 980-2474; North Shore Neighborhood House, 987- 8138: West Vancouver Kiwanis Residence, 926- 3266 and West Vancouver Senior Activity centre, 926- 4375. There is no “drop-in” ser- vice so seniors are advised to phone the most convenient location now to make an ap- pointment. AD important suggestion: Gather up all your pension slips, T-3s and 5s, receipts for donations, medical ex- penses and any other tax- related information before you go, and don’t forget your own income tax form. This will save you and _ the volunteer tax preparer valuable time. Did you know that you don’t even have to have any taxable income, or have paid any tax to get a tax refund? You may be eligible for the Renter's B.C. Tax Credit and/or the new personal Tax Credit. But to receive these refunds, you need to fill out a tax return.
