to celebrate

Fifteen hundred members
of the Lions area Girl
(guides, including Brownies,
(suides, Pathfinders Rangers
and their Guiders,.will be
travelling to the Civic Centre
grounds im Squamish on
Saturday. May 24.

The event has been
planned to celebrate the
"Oth vear of Guiding in

Canada. Special events are
planned in every part of

Canada tor this day.

Twenty-three buses will
leave various locations on
the North Shore. Actuvities
for the day will include a
march past with flags and
banners, games, fellowship
and a huge campfire.

The Lions area is spread
over the whole North Shore,
including the Sunshine Coast
and extending to Squamish,
Pemberton and Mount
Curne

the North Shore Unitarian Church will be addressed by
Dr. Eugene Pickett (above), president of the Unitarian
Universalist Association of North America. The dinner
takes place at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 24, in the
Arbutus Room of the West Vancouver Recreation
Centre, 780-22nd Street, West Van.

Wiliam Valentine, M.C., who died last weekend. Above, Rev. Desmond Kimmitt,

Archbishop Godfrey Gower. Rev. Valentine served Anglican churches in West
Vancouver from 1946 onward and for 20 years was rector of St. Francis-in-the-Wood,
