The Lawn Bowling Club’s triples team of Art Jones, Nellie Hunter, and Jim Ashcroft North Vancouver won first place, and the trophy, in the Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club’s ‘*Masters’’ competition held last week. In -third place was the other North Vancouver entry of George Henderson, Mary Milligan and Annie Ashcroft. This is the first year that this competition has been held. On Saturday, July 10, the first half of the Leyland Cap competition was played on the North Vancouver greens. This is an annual event piayed between the North ecer clinics Opening classes for hun- dreds of youngsters—includ- ing girls as well as boys—.- kicked off a season of _ summer soccer last week, as the biggest-ever number of soccer schools and clinics in the Lower Mainland got under way. First off the mark was the Vancouver Soccer School headed by former Vancouver Whitecaps’ coach Jim Easton with four one-week clinics divided between the North Vancouver and the West Vancouver Lawn Bowling Men’s Ciubs. Eight games were played and the result was four wins for North Vancouver to three wins for West Vancouver. The eighth game ended in a tie. The second half of the ‘contest will be played on the West Vancouver greens, Saturday July 31. Last Sunday, the North Vancouver Lawn Bowling Clubs were hosts to the North Burnaby Club for an interclub game.
