We will also be looking at the top wage carners in our two school districts. WEST Vancouver District employees accounted for over $31 million of the municipality's 1999 budget. The District paid out $17,603,926.59 for employees that garned more than $50,000 for the year ended Dec. 31, 1999. According to the District’s Employee Financial Information Act Report, 273 employees were in the $50,000+ bracket in 1999. District employees earning fess than $50,060 accounted for $13,608,705.97. Employ ccs earning more than $50,600 had expenses of $175,186.52, while the group of employees below the $50,000 watermark claimed $39,138.29 in expenses. The grand total for remuneration and expenses amounts to $31,426,957.37 Of the top three earners, two — municipal manager Douglas Alfan ($119,976.66) and fire captain Thomas Bell ($114,532.31) — have since left their positions.
