stars Michael Shanks and Don
S. Davis, both of Srargate SG-
2, and Dutch actor Derek de
Lint, known for his role in The
Asanit, winner of an Academy
Award and Golden Globe for
Best Foreign Language Film.
Marchtelder’s short is his
calling card at Cannes. It’s
what will help the young film-
maker develop partnerships for

larger projects. And Telefilm
Canada, which is footing the
bill tor Marchfelder’s stay and
has set up a series of meetings
with foreign producers, is see-
ing that it gets into all the
right hands.

“This is one Canadian tax
paver who is happy ight
now,” Jaughs Marchfelder,
who is the only B.C. filmmak-
er supported by Telefilm at

Cannes. “I'm their poster boy.

And that's fine because you're
only hot for about 10 min-
utes.”
