The 13 duplexes, the three triplexes and one single-family home will be set into the steep slope in rows, with minimal disruption of the natural grade, according to Ronald Howard of architects Howard/BinghanVHill. The staircases, us suggested by the Parks and Recreation Department, were to have been worked into vertical corridors of indigenous landscaping to permit people to walk up and down through the development. Coun. Allan Wiiliams argued that the stairs would be a “major intru- sion” on the green space. Hutchinson thought that the stairs would be camouflaged by the land- scaping.
