b: Warm air escaping from your
home carries a high humidity content. When this comes in
contact with the cold underside of the roof sheathing, the
moisture condenses and turns to frost. This is caused by
poor roof cavity ventilation. Ventilation should be
calculated at 1 sq. ft. per 300 sq. ft. of home. Bathroom
and kitchen exhaust fans should be vented directly to the
outside through the roof or soffit. Make certain your attic
access hole is weatherstripped and insulated by using a 6”
batt of fiberglass insulation held in place with a wrap of
cheesecloth to stop leakage.
