Back to the future: Year 2000 from 1975 In 1975, Motor Trend mag- azine asked a number of automobile experts to gaze into their crystal balls and predict what the automobile industry would be like in the year 2000 {now only seven years away). ‘Below is a sampling of their replies, with their job positions at the time of the interview. The automobile will be obsolete for urban transportation by the vear 2000, but will be used for non-city travel.
