YATES - James, passed away peacefully
April 26, 1992 at Lions Gate Hospital.
Survived by Evelyn, his loving wife of 46
years; daughters, Diane and Patricia;
and son David; son-in-law Qwen Beaton;
grandchildren, Rebecca, Brittney, Lisa,
James and David. Also survived by one
sister, Bessie Tryson and one niece,
Karen Falk and family. Jim was born
October 18, 1914 in Vancouver. He
started his career as a seaman in 1935,
Jim served with the Merchant Marines
during the Second World War. After a
fengthy career in the marine industry,
retired as manager of Canadian Pacific
Coastal Marine Operations. During
retirement, Jim was active with the
promotion of high speed ferries. He
spent considerable time and effort
toward the establishment of a high
speed ferry service between the Sun-
shine Coast, Bowen Island and
Downtown Vancouver. Jim was highly
respected and greatly admired dy the
matine community which always
tecognized his great joy for tife. op-
timism and tremendous trish humour.
Jim will be sadly missed by all who
crossed his path. A memorial service will
be held on May 3, 1992 at the West
Vancouver Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m.
Donations may be made to the B.C.
Parkinsons Disease Association.

of 57, passed away peacefully in her
home April 25, 1992, after a lengthy
battle with cances. She is survived by
her loving family, husband Gary; daugh-
ters, Janice and Donna (husband
Richard); son Jeff (wife Pam); grand-
daughters, Kristin, Megan and Jody;
mother Kate Hay; sister Roberta;
brothers, Neil and Jack. Funeral service
will be held Saturday, May 2, 1992 at 2
p.m. at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807
Marine Drive, West Vancouver.

KAFFKA - Elizabeth Andrea, a six year
resident of Evergreen House, passed
away on April 26, 1992, aged 74 years.
She is survived by one sister, Jean
Westman; two sons, Michael & wife Sal-
ly, Martin & wife Sue: two daughters,
Maria & Judy; & eight grandchildren.
Elizabeth was married for 52. years to
Peter, who passed away on March 15,
1992. Service will be held May 4, 1992
at 1 p.m. in the Hollyburn Funeral
Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to
the Evergreen House Life Enrichment
Fund c/o Lions Gate Hospital would be
gratefully appreciated.
