The sport has been accepted as an exhibition sport in the 1988 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Seoul, Korea. Olympic acceptance is the first step toward establishing bowling as a world-wide computitive sport. North Vancouver has long been a gold min: for future Olympic participants and the Youth 1')-Pin Programs, which are bowled at Brunswick Lions Gate Lanes and Thunderbird Lanes on Saturdays and Sun- days, are producing some excellent young bowlers. in the bantam-junior division at Lions Gate Lanes recently, four-year-old Russell Clark bowled games of 38 and 45. Eight-year-old Mark McLennan had a high single game of 140 and a total of 360 for three games. Bowler of the week in the bantam-junior division was Brad McKay who rolled a high single game of 172. In the senior division, Brian Eskesen had a 291 game and a 561 three-game series. Bowling in the ladies Monday Night Trio League at Lions Gate Lanes, Dorothy Thompson had a single . game of 217, Janice Harmon rolled a 215 and Karen Kirk posted a 213 game. The high four-game series of 736 was bowled by Lee Jillings with games of 199, 180, 205 and 152. The doubles team of Cindy Scarsbrook and Jim Prait took top honors in the Neate’s Coffee Doubles League with a four-game total of 1,934. Pratt bowled a 246 and a four-game series of 890 tu help his team to the top. The second high team series of 1,892 was rolled by Stephanie and Vance Hackett. Joyce Stoddart came up with the ladies high single game of 254, In the Duggan West Insurance Mixed Trio Lesgue at Thunderbird Lanes, Jan Crock and Derilyn Tearoe were the top two women bowlers. Tearoe bowled games of 183, 217, 190 and i74 for the grand total of 764 and Crock had a 779 series with games of 225, 183, 173 and 198. Curtis Kruschel took over the men’s high four-game series position with a huge 926 total. His games were 220, 236, 249 and 221. The high men’s single game of 250 was rolled by Ratph Schodt. Mark Innes was not to be outdone for high series of the week as he bowled 236, 224, 245 and 237 for a 942 total in the Andrea’s B.C. All Star League at Thunderbird Lanes. Tom Brock rolled an excellent three-game total of 714 with games of 202, 245 and 267. A single high game of 262 was bowled by Don Lutz. Tayside blanks local Saints NORTH SHORE St. Alice lost its second game of the season Sunday, Oct. 12, when the team dropped a 1-0 to Tayside in Vancouver Metro Senior Soccer action. The only goal was scored early in the game when Tayside’s Jim Fletcher headed in a free kick. The Saints pressed hard for the rest of the game but could not penetrate Tayside’s defence. Russ Fox, back in goal after missing three games, played steadi- ly in goal for the Saints. Craig Henderson and Ed Thomas played a strong midfield game for the North Shore team. The Saints’ pressure produced a dozen corner kicks in the second half, but the tall Tayside keeper kept the score-sheet blank. Fraser Ritchie pushed forward from his midfield position in the second half and created some op- portunities close in, but again the Tayside defence held strong.
