The forum is a two-part mini-series on positive health ‘choices’ in preventing cancer and promoting good health. Part one features breast * self-examination and the ear- ly detection of tumors. At the CCABC, doctors examine biopsy tissue to determine malignancy, Worth explained. “The difference between if exa us and a general hospital is that we deal mainly with diseases, with tumors,"’ Worth said. The specialized staff at the CCABC receive biopsies from all over the province and correlate the patholgist’s interpretation with blood tests and X-rays. The doctors advise the clinicians as tu ap- propriate treatment, such as radiation or chemotherapy. Goldenberg, a practising urologist at St. Paul's Hospital and clinical consul- tant with the CCABC, has done research on prostate diseases, both benign and cancerous. “There’s a very high in- cidence of prostate cancer and it increases with age." said Goldenberg, who will ex- plain the testicular self- examination technique.
