RCMP Happy to be home .Van IT’S TAKEN a while, but RCMP Inspector Bob Bell has made it ‘‘home.’’ By MARK HAMILTON Home, in this case, is the North Vancouver detach- ment of the police force where Bell, a five-year resi- dent of North Vancouver, settled in this week as officer in charge of operations. Bell arrives at the post from the Coquitlam detach- ment, the latest in a series of career moves that have seen him serve everywhere from Klemtu in northern B.C. to London, England. “Tl feel quite comfortable here,’ Bell said this week. ‘I’ve lived in North Van- couver for five years and there are people in_ this detachment I’ve known for as long as I’ve been in polic- ing. There are members | may have crossed paths with 25 years, and there’s still a bit of a bond there. It makes the working relationship a little bit easier."’ Bell has been with the RCMP for 29 years and dur- ing that span has come close to doing it all. His career has seen him go from his original posting in northern B.C., to the Bur- naby detachment, to RCMP headquarters and then into prot OE: INSP. BOB BELL the RCMP’s Security Service for a six-year stint. That led to a posting in London, England, where he provided lason between the RCMP and the British and Irish police forces. Bell followed that with a return to criminal investiga- uion and a posting in Mon- treal.
