Go to Rio for a carnival

KNOW everyone has a special travel dream

and for one reader it’s a visit to Rio de Janiero

for Carnival — and he’s doing the right thing
by beginning to plan now.

One problem, though, many
tourists complain that they
have a hard time getting fit-
ted. Are North American feet
different from South
American? It appears so.

A word of caution if
you're taking young children
into Brazil. There’s a taw in
Brazil that adults must have a
special permit to move a kid
from one city to another by
public transport. There’s no
way of knowing if this law is
still in force so check at your
hotel before you try it.

A fast word of caution —
watch the sun. The tropical
sun in Brazil can burn so
quickly and efficiently that
we can be fried in 15 minutes.
Use a top quality sun screen,
watch your timing and bring
cover-ups to the beach.

tic time in Rio. By going with

say it: Rio is a dangerous city
for tourists. In any country
where there is such poverty
