Truth about traffic tickets

Whether you be a
pedestrian, cyclist, or a

motorist you are subject to
the provincial laws which
govern pedestrian and motor
vehicle movement. When an
infraction of these laws
occurs you may be subject to
a fine, point, or a warning
ticket, (traffic notice). If you
are issued a warning ticket it
is exactly that — a warning.
If a point ticket is issued
and you do not agree with
the officer, you have SEVEN
days and only seven days to
dispute the ticket,
(weekends and holidays are
included). You must take
your copy of the ticket to the
local provincial court. The
officer will request that you
sign the ucket. By signing
the ticket you are only
acknowledging a receipt of
the copy to the ticket, you
are NOT admitting to the
offence. When you arrive at
the court house, proceed to
the Court Administration
office where ua date will be
set for a hearing,NOT a tnal.
This date will allow you to
present your case before a
Provincial Court Judge or

When you receive a
Traffic Ticket Information,
the copy of the ticket which
you receive is a “SUM-
MONS" to court. If you wish
to plead guilty and there is a
voluntary penalty, you may
pay this fine either in person
or by mailing in your copy of
the ticket together with your
cheque or money order to
the Provincial Court, NOT
the police station. However,
if you do not do this you
MUST appear in court on
the date indicated or a bench
warrant may be issued for
your ARREST.
