DOES a homeowner dispose of paint cans or unused paint at the end of a job? For cans that are empty, leave the lid off and allow the remain- ing film of paint to dry out com- pletely. : Then, leaving the lid off, to show that there is no liquid paint in the container, dispose of the can into your garbage. Cans that still have wet paint left in them should not be disposed of in any landfill site, as it is unsafe and illegal. If you do not have any use for the leftover paint, you could do- nate it to a non-profit. organiza- tion such as the Boy Scouts, a church, or a food bank. The store where you bought the paint should be willing to take its product back and dispose of it. Kelsan Paint & Chemical In- dustries Ltd. will gladly assist the homeowner in disposing of un- wanted paint. ; Hs the paint has been con- taminated or is in a non-usable condition, the homeowner can telephone the recycling hotline number, 732-9253, to obtain: in- formation on a date and location for proper disposal. McCarter and Nairen were the supervising architects for wartime housing in B.C. None of these homes had base- ments, but over the years some homes were raised or basements were dug out. Many of these homes had the same owners for years, as in the case of the Bishops’ home on Tobruk pictured above. They have lived here for 31 years.
