And a wildly gesticulating Leitch
is. to put it mildly, excited about
Tamahnous’ latest project. It's
been a good “learning experi-
ence” (although she admits she'll
never again get involved with a
work that has no script). And learn
is what she wants to do, having
graduated from Montreal's Na-
tional Theatre School just two
years ago.

In fact, Leitch is one of those
rare up-and-coming actors who
hasn't had to starve while gaining
stage experience: in the last two
years she’s managed to find work
in theatres across the country,
frorn Montreal to Regina’s Globe
Theatre to Vancouver, where her
performance in Touchstone
Theatre's production of Toronto,
Mississippi led to a 1988 Jessie
Richardson nomination.

Although her current role (Leitch
plays an assortment of roles — a
servant, a legal aid officer) isn't
especially difficult, she hasn’t been
able to approach the text as a
traditional character would.

“It’s not a regular acting job.
It’s (5 Blood Alley) a style piece
that cares less about what people
say and more about how they say
it,’ she says, grinning, noting that
her current role saw her taking a
crash course in mountain climbing
