THE following is a selec-
tion of volunteer opportu-
nities available through
North Shore Community
Services (NSCS):

Volunteer = drivers are
needed for a program for
Biaillé mentors, on a weekly
basis. Volunteers will take the
clients from the North Shore
to an institute in Vancouver.

A clinic assistant is needed
to assist a family planning
clinic by doing clerical work,
and some teaching or
assisting physicians as neces-
sary.

A peer support volunteer
is needed to answer the
phone and greet drop-ins,
provide information to the
general public, and give sup-
port to caregivers of people
with Alzheimer.

An outreach volunteer is
needed to speak about how to
prevent AIDS and how to
cope with AIDS to schools
and community centres, meet
with an outreach educator as
needed and atrend planning
sessions on providing out-
reach education.

Drivers are needed to pick
up and deliver hot meals to
shut-in seniors in their
honies. Pick up is cither in
West Vancouver or North
Vancouver. Seniors will also
have a chance to visit and get
to know the volunteer.

CAPILANO College hosted a symposium on childhood fearning last week.
Among those attending were, left to right, Capilano College Early Childhood Care
and Education instructor Lois Rennie, Greg Leigh, Dr. Carolyn Edwards, a
University of Nebraska professor, and Dr. Lella Grandini, an author of children’s
books and books for parents and teachers.
