Lions Alumni team of former foot-
ball players and local media person-
alities to a recreational game of soft-
ball at Mahon Park, 16th and Jones,
North Vancouver. The game, 5 p.m.

donations for the food bank would

HEADWATERS HIKE... the Lynn
Canyon Ecology Centre leads a
three-hour, moderately difficult hike
through Lynn Headwaters Regional
Park (LHRP) Sunday, Aug. 24. The
hike winds through Douglas fir,
Western hemlock and Pacific yew,
with a stop to examine a 600-year-
old Western red cedar. The group
meets at the parking lot gatehouse of
LHRP at 9:30 a.m. Bring good hik-
ing boots, water and a snack. For

SUMMER THEATRE... the
YMCA International Education Unit
presents the return of its Summer
Theatre Troupe and the production
of Two Friends, One World, Plane
Fun, This interactive play of songs
and skis explores issues of racism,
discrimination, the environment and
human rights from the perspective of
children. The troupe brings its per-
formance, for children aged six to
12, to the North Shore YMCA, 1735
Inglewood Dr., West Vancouver,
