Organizers say another $30,000 is within reach with more than 1,500 par- ticipants expected in the race this Sunday. The Red Cross created the reg- istry when it became necessary to widen the search for suitable bone marrow donors, A healthy bone marrow transplant can cure someone with leukemia and other fatal disorders. “Three years ago, people werent aware of the registry, so | decided J could help.”* says Phillip Eastwood, co-founder of the run and a constable with the New Westminster Police.
