Celebrate Christmas with the carol ships USHER IN the Christmas season by celebrating the annual Carol Ship Festival, running this year from Dec. 8 to 17. The official kick-off, happening on Friday, Dec. 8 at Canada Har- bour Place, will include many sights and sounds of Christmas: food, street entertainment, a cor- porate Christmas tree competition, performances by the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra, the lighting of the sails at the Trade and Convention Centre, and the inaugural night of the carol ship Parade of Lights flotilla. Festivities continue on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the English Bay Bathhouse. Ceiebrate the second annual Vancouver Sea Festival/ Shell Canada carol ship beach fes- tival, a family-oriented evening of carollers, warm drink and food, a Christmas tree lighting and again the carol ship Parade of Lights. Festivities get under way by 7 p.m. The same evening, the launching of five days of holiday celebration will take place at 8 p.m. at Science World. Activities will include carollers and entertainment, festive food and drink, the lighting of a giant Christmas tree and the carol ship Parade of Lights around the east basin of False Creek. The program of holiday fun, carollers and entertainment will run at Science World every night at 8 p.m. from Dec. 9 up to and in- cluding Wednesday, Dec. 13.
