In curling, Sentinel qualified for the B.C. boys’ championships in Williams Lake Feb.25 to 27 with two one-point wins — 8-7 and 9-8 over Argyle in the double-loss knockout qualification playdowns held at the North Shore Winter Club last weekend. Sentinel’s rink of Ron Mather, Chris Harrison, Mike Rekrutiak and Greg Voigt remains intact from last year, when they compiled a 6-1 «von-lost record at the B.C.'s to finish secoud behind Nanaimo District. All are in Grade 12 this year, except Mather who is in Grade #1, Argyle’s Kim Moricz, Michelle Parkin, Jennifer Eastwood, Cindy Groen and Kindra Smith will repre- petition sent the North Shore in the B.C. girls’ curling com- petition the same weekend. The 12th annual North Shore boys’ and girls’ skiing championships are set for Feb. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Whistler as 11 schools vie for top spot in J0 categories of slalom competition. The best four senior boys’ experienced and senior girls’ experienced teams will qualify for the B.C. championships at Apex Mountain near Penticton March 10 to 11. Girls’ gymnastics preliminary mects for North Shore schools take place at Howe Sound on Feb. 15 for vaulting and parallel bars, and at Hillside Feb. 25 for floor exercise and balance beam. Both start at 4 p.m. The 17th annual North Shore championships are scheduled for Friday, March 4, The top six finishers all-around in each of four ability levels continue on to the B.C. meet March 17 to 18 at Britannia in Van- couver.
