General Motors reported
Wednesday its 1980 model
year passenger cars were
selling at a record pace, with
3,659 more vehicles
delivered this model year
compared to the same eight-
month period in 1979.

‘Total GM passenger car
deliveries to date were
305,503 for the current
model year, said Richard
Colcomb, GM’s vice presi-
dent and general sales
manager.

‘However, the total vehicle
' deliveries for the first cight
months. were also ahead of
last ‘year’s record levels,
Wednesday.

In May, 57,373 cars. and
trucks were delivered. But
passenger car sales of 42,911

GM's all-time sales record of
50,378 set last year. Truck
deliveries were 14,462 for
the month, compared to
17,246 for May 1979.

GM dealers in Vancouver,
Galgary and the four
Atlantic Provinces set zone
sales records despite a lower
national level of sales for

“We are most encouraged
by the currently more
favorable interest and credit
picture, and we are con-
fident that sales of GM cars.
