THE arts often flourish
like a weed despite finding
cutbacks, but because 2000
was counted as the millen-
nium year some local seed
money generated several
notable projects.

Local artists (Arnold Shives,
lick-tun, Ross Penhail, Joan

Smith, Setsukeo Piroche, Wayne
Easteott, Bonnie Jordan,
Chiba, Jenniter Judge, Jean
Morrison, Pierre Coupey
Damian George) were selected to
create visual art based on 12 local
sites with historic, natural and cul-
tural significance.

On the literary front, a volun-
teer committee published Shore
Lines (see page 20), showcasing
the ralents of local writers on
locally themed topics.
