___-MAILBox @ Don’t let the unprepared @ hike in our mountains Dear Editor: I was both interested and annoyed to read mae the report “Hiker survives mountain mishap” mm in the Nov. 16 North Shore News. Asa responsible hiker it is frustrating to sce @ that there are still people out there who try to - tackle something as arduous and dangerous as the Lions with total disregard to their own safety, and a total disrespect for the people who G . had to go and rescue him. .. This particular person should be forced to a pay for the Canadian Forces helicopter that fad to rescuc him, and a mechanism should be set in place that bans him trom future hikes in the mountains. : While chac will never happen because we're -a civilized country and taxpayers’ money will ow | Human Resources Development Canada continue to be used in this way and we all have a right to go into the mountains, what can other hikers do about it? When we sce people skimpily dressed tack- ling major hikes let’s force them back down before they get too far, too tired, and too cold.
