“There aren't a ton of
children’s history books available
for kids,”’ says Manson, ‘‘but 1
didn’t write it to fill a void. |
decided it was a really neat way to

| present history to kids. They take
in little bits and pieces of history
without even knowing it.”

To her credit, Manson doesn’t

throats (she doesn’t even name
Mackenzie until the last page) or
intimidate them with complex
