Discover spectacular scenery on one-day railway excursion ON SATURDAY, Feb. 15 the West Coast Railway Association (WCRA), a non-profit preservation group, will operate their annual one-day, railway expedition from North Vancouver to Lillooet. This is the 30th year that the popular ‘‘Winter Wonderland Railway Excursion’’ has run, of- fering spectacular scenery along Burrard Inlet, Howe Sound, Cheakamus Canyon, Whistler, Pemberton Valley and the wilderness of Anderson and Seton Lakes. Participants will depart from B.C. Rail’s North Vancouver sta- tion at 7 a.m. and return at 8:35 p.m. The trainride includes com- plimentary snacks, coffee service and a commemorative mug. There will be time for sightsee- ing in Lillooet and an opportunity to enjoy a meal at a local restau- rant. Tickets, including GST and meals, cost $85 for adults, $70 for Seniors aged 60 years and older and $50 for children aged 1! years and younger. Lower Mainland residents can arrange for transportation to the cailway station by requesting pick-up service when ordering tickets. Passengers should be aware that the trip is smoking- restricted. For more information and to make reservations call 522-9068 or 524-1014, Ice sculpting competition promises to be premier event THIS WINTER, Seymour Ski Country, with the help of the Ca- nadian Ice Sculpting Association, is presenting the Japan Travel Bureau and Charter Bus Lines of B.C. Ice Sculpting Competition. The competition will run from Friday, Jan. to Sunday, Jan. 19 at Mr. Seymour Provincial Park, 1,000 metres above Van- couver. Fifteen sculpting teams of four people each, from Canada, the United States and Japan will compete in this three-day com- petition.
