IT WAS a major triumph for two gymnasts from the Fiieka Gymnastic

Club in North Vancouver as they competed in the Western Canadian
Championships held in Calgary April 27-29.

Jody Jacques, 15, led the B.C. Open women's team to victory with a
total of 207.80.

Jacques won the silver all-around medal with a total of 36.75. She won
the uneven bars event with 9.50 and the floor exercise with 9.40, and
came second on vauli 9.20.

Club mate Jenny Campbell,
overall total of 36.50.

Campbell came second on the uneven bars 9.40, and third on two
events, uneven bars 9.40 and floor exercise 9.15. These scores will help
them when they compete May 17-20 at the Canadian Championships in
Halifax.

In the voungest Argodivision Karen Gill was the bronze medalist with a
total of 33.95, followed by Meredith Schachtel in fourth with 33.90. Gill
and Schachtel were second and third on vault with scores of 8.65, and
8.60 respectively. Gill also came third on two events, uneven bars 8.55
and fleor exercise with 8.70, They were members of the B.C. Argo team
that continued its winning streak which has been a tradition over the last
few yeurs.

In the tyro division, Laura Mazur was tenth with 33.00, her highest
individual placings were on vault 8.75 and beam with 8.45 as she finished
sixth in both events. Kristine Grant was [3th in tvro with 32.60 and won
the balance beam event with 9.00, followed by Courteney Howard in 15th
place with 32.35. Her top placing was on balance beam with 8.40 and
eighth place. The girls’ competition in these categories was extremely
close.
