Options for volunteers

MAKE THIS a happy and fulfill-
ing spring by volunteering. You
will make new friends, learn new
skills and help others. Listed below
is a sampling of the many volun-
teer opportunities on file at the
North Shore Information and
Volunteer Centre.

GOOD COMMUNICATION
SKILLS? Monitors are needed to
be trained to work a two-hour
phone check to people with recent-
ly installed home emergency
systems. Volunteer should speak
English well, enjoy talking to
seniors and have a pleasant phone
manner. Information meeting is on
April 13 at 10 a.m.

INSTALLER is wanted to per-
form simple installations of home
emergency response system to
telephones of the elderly. Minimal
technical skills are needed and the
volunteer should be available to
attend the training session. Infor-
mation session in April 13 at 10
a.m.

OVER 40? Volunteer grand-
parents are wgnted for one-to-one
relationship with children aged
three to 12 years who have no
grandparents in this area. If you
enjoy children and have a few
hours to spare call about this op-
portunity. Orientation provided.

CARING MATURE PEOPLE
are wanted to provide encourage-
ment and support to cancer pa-
tients in hospital and in their home

be over 25, willing to submit a
resume and some previous board
experience would be helpful.
Hours are the first Thursday of
each month at 5:30 p.m.

BE A SECRETARY. An art

therapy centre requires an office
worker for one half-day per week
io perform general office duties.
The volunteer must be over 24
years old and have a background
in office work. Orientation pro-
vided. Six-month commitment.
