NORTH Vancouver's diefending
Canadian and world champion
linda Moore curling cuk suffered
its first defeat Sundays in the Scott
Tournament of Hearts champion-
ships Sunday in i ondon, Ontario.

The Moore rink, which apened
with victories over former Cana-
dian champion Colleen Jones 8-4
and Whiteharse’s Shelley Aucoin
5.3, were dropped 7-4 by Ontario's
Marilyn Darte rink.

The [oss ended a (3-game
unbeated streak for Moore and left
the Ontario rink in first place with
a3 and 0 tournament record.

But the Moore rink bounced
back from the loss with a 5-3 win
over Saskatoon'’s Lori MeGeary
and was consequently left sitting in
second place tied with the Jones
rink as of tournament play to
Monday.

Twelve rinks are battling it out
in the tournament, which ends
March 1.

Manning Park
hosts X-country
spectacular

MORE THAN 200 cross-country
skiers will compete in the Nordic
Racers Spring Classic (NRSC) in
Manning Park on March 8.

The trail this year begins and
ends at Lightuing Lake and goes
through one of the most beautiful
ski areas in North America.

The event has gone through
many name changes over the sears.
From 1988 to 198-4 it was called the
Vancouver City Championships.

In 1985 the race organizers
wanted to get away from a racing
event and fern it inte a fia esent

Special.

Because Manning Paik is
