Instruction is designed to supplement scholastic studies and includes such Subjects as navigation, seamanship, sailing and weekend cruises. Sea cadets are instructed by ex- servicemen, school teachers. senior corps cadets, and former sea cadets. In addition to regular weekly parade nights, sea cadets have the opportunity to attend summer training Y yy a SF ai { Hiss ve we aN ah {You ou) the vew 1s — free? camps at Canadian Forces Bases across the country where they are given familianzation instruction in both sail and power vessels. Training is available on naval Coast Guard = and Department of the En- vironment vessels. Summer courses are provided in Athletic Leadership, Technical Training. Seamanship and _ other subjects to prepare cadets for future positions of leadership, either in the sea cadet movement or other fields. A Senior Leaders course is also included. For senior sea cadets, the summer camps offer em- ployment opportunities and a chance to “earn while you learn.” While sea cadet corps are organized along military lines, the primary aim is to produce better Canadian citizens — the kind who understand the respon- sibilities of citizenship and are prepared to accept them when the need arises. Locally, the Sea Cadet corps, RCSCC_ Lonsdale parades every Monday evening at 6:45 pm at 1555 Forbes. All interested young people are invited to come at this ime.
