The Royal Canadian Sea
Cadet Corps of North
Vancouver (RCSCC  Lon-
sdale) are inviting all in-
terested young people
between the ages of 12-18 to

become members’ and
Participate in weekly
programs.

Instruction is designed to
supplement scholastic
studies and includes such
Subjects as navigation,
seamanship, sailing and
weekend cruises. Sea cadets
are instructed by ex-
servicemen, school teachers.

former sea cadets.

In addition to regular
weekly parade nights, sea
cadets have the opportunity
to attend summer training

Bases across the country
where they are given
familianzation instruction in
both sail and power vessels.

Training is available on
naval Coast Guard = and
Department of the En-
vironment vessels. Summer
courses are provided in
Athletic Leadership,
Technical Training.

subjects to prepare cadets
for future positions of
leadership, either in the sea
cadet movement or other
fields. A Senior Leaders
course is also included.

each year large groups of
cadets visit the United

ployment opportunities and
a chance to “earn while you
learn.”

While sea cadet corps are
organized along military
lines, the primary aim is to
produce better Canadian
citizens — the kind who
understand the respon-
sibilities of citizenship and
are prepared to accept them
when the need arises.

Locally, the Sea Cadet
corps, RCSCC_ Lonsdale
parades every Monday
evening at 6:45 pm at 1555
Forbes. All interested young
people are invited to come at
this ime.
