Events for all levels of interest are offered at wine festiva

ONE OF British Columbia's
premiere wine industry events is
gaining a worldwide reputation for
quality, while fostering a spirit of
togetherness at home.

-The Okanagan Wine Festival in
1993 features more than 43 events
during its 10-day run from Oct. |
to 10,

The 13th annual wine festival
also marks the return of Vernon
as a host community for several
events, making’ it truly an
Okanagan Valley-wide festival.

Among the highlights of this

year’s wine festival are the Peo-
ple’s Choice wine tasting at
Kelowna’s Capri Hotel (Friday,
Oct. 1), the Winemasters’ Dinner
at the Coast Lakeside Resort in
Penticton (Friday, Oct. 8), and the
Consumers’ Choice wine tasting at
the Penticton Trade and Conven-
tion Centre (Saturday, Oct. 9).

There are also some great fam-
ily fun events, like the Grape
Stomp Championship at Calona
Wines in Kelowna (Saturday, Oct.
2), or the Great Grape Games in
Summerland’s Memorial Park
(Sunday, Oct. 3).

There will be hot-air balloon
tides — weather permitting — at
Bella Vista Vineyard in Vernon
(Saturday, Oct. 2), .

For dining experiences, you'll
find everything from chairlift rides
and champagne brunch at Silver
Star Mountain in Vernon to a wild
boar roast and family barbecue at
Sun-Oka Motor Inn in Okanagan
Falls (both on Sunday, Oct. 3).

There are 19 participating
wineries in this year’s Okanagan
Wine Festival, and more than 100
different wines to sample — many
of them award winners in British

pected that attendance will top
