The station is trying to make an impact in areas VIV says established stations have left untended. Plans include setting up a permanent pres- ence within other stations merely send reporters to. The VIV North ‘Shore bureau is centrally located in North Vancouver’s Lonsdale Quay, tucked in a small but cozy office. space nestled between a restaurant and a toy store on the second floor. “The bureau, like others around town, is staffed by three full-tinic employees. A resident researcher who will remain on the North Shore full-time provides the back- bone of the operation. She is accompanied by «a reporter and cameraman who will make their. way to ower areas as the news breaks, although communities: they will concentrate on the North Shore. The names behind these positions are Jane Reddingron as the researcher and reporter Jina You. Reddington, 24, is a home-grown product with a varied experience base. She attended West Vancouver sec- ondary school, but upon graduation headed for Carlton University. With a journalism degree in hand, she returned to work in Vancouver as one of the orga- nizers of the 1996 Aids con- ference.
