Crown counsel’s office is investigating laying possible charges against a Vancouver City Police sergeant who is alleged to have assaulted an employee of Capilano Highway Services Co. at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal last monih. Capilano Highway Services Co. supplies the staff who work at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. According to company operations manager Steve Drummond, an off-duty Vancouver City Police sergeant allegedly struck Capilano Highway Services employee Ryan Burnett three times in the head on the morning of July 18 after the police sergeant became upset when he noticed other vehicles in the ferry traffic lineup pass him. “He was an off-duty police sergeant going to the Sunshine Coast and saw all these vehicles in the left lane pass him. He started running up and down the lineup and eventually bobbed our employee three times in the head,’’ said Drummond. “The West Vancouver Police were on the scene immediately. I think he (Burnett) got a few bruises and a bruised lip. There are any number of reasons why traffic in the left lane passes other vehicles. “This guy (police sergeant) got quite upset,’’ Drummond added. West ‘Yancouver Police Staff Sgt. Gunther Wahl confirmed the incident took place on July 18 and added that the West Vanccuver Police did launch an investigation into the incident. Wahl said that the West Van- couver Pclice report has now been submitted to Crown counsel, who will determine if any charges will be laid. . “*Ves it did tat:e place.
