North City Council rescheduled its meeting for Tues- day, April 21 Both North Van- couver and West Vancouver District councils will meet again Monday, April 27. Vancouver has “How about an old-fashioned Sunday schoo! picnic,’’ she sug- some of their green space to community groups. “We want to encourage people in the parks,’’ said parks events coordinator Rete McKay. ‘‘We are encouraging citizens to make full use of the parks.”’ Waterfront and Cleveland Dam parks will come alive to the sounds of chamber and big band music, folk songs and dancing in a host of events this summer. “We're going to run the whole gamut (of music) except rock,” said McKay. A Clam Chowder Cook-Off is again set for this summer and McKay promises the event will be better than ever with a healthy dose of celebrity and media. Last year, teams appeared garb- ed as doctors, African explorers and, of course, clams. ‘‘It’s going to be just great,’’ McKay said of the culinary contest. In August, the first of what or- ganizers hope will be an annual folk festival kicks off and is to highlight local performers and various ethnic groups. McKay stressed virtually all events are geared for families. Mostly scheduled in the afternoon or early evening, the festivities are suitable for everyone. Kids of all ages can get some kite-making pointers at a special workshop by the B.C. Kite Fliers Association. And parents are wel- come too, McKay added. ‘Booze wha’ on the .
