‘Caps open season

IF ONE COULD find fault with the Whitecaps
over the past three years (and remember they won
65 games during that time) it would have to be the
lack of a consistent scoring punch. They could con-
trol a game and ‘dictate the pace from the opening
tap off, but often had trouble delivering the final

killing blow.

Rest assured that this 1984
version of the Whitecaps
should — barring injury —
be able to deliver the blow
many times over.

With a league opening 2-0
win against San Dhiego
Sockers Saturday night, and
their 4-1 rout of the Cosmos
in the Spring Cup, fans are
looking at a team that can
score goals.

many — if they can stay
healthy

mains this will be a hard team

the Caps carved great chunks
out of the Soccer defense,

ing at will throughout the
first half, being unfortunate
