Elizabeth Smily, a
portrait artist now

living in North Van-
couver, will have her
first exhibit of  well-
known Vancouver
actors and actresses at
the West Vancouver
library beginning
October 3.

Smily has been holding
sittings over the past few
weeks, preparing for this
four week exhibit of the
acting profession.

She says she will present

’ the actors and actresses not

as the public. is used to
seeing them, costumed and
in character, but as the

personalities will,

The exhibit will travel to
various B.C. locations, but
the West Vancouver
showing will be the first.

Smily is a Yorkshire
native, and in the past she
has painted many famous
people, including Marlene
Dietrich, Jimmy Stewart,
Trevor Howard, Glynnis
John and Odette Churchill.

She served in the British
forces during World War II,
sketching and. painting.
After the war she was ac-
cepted by the Royal
Academy in London, where
she received the Leverhulme
