Roche Point 9 p.m. Dundarave highlights from the Nov. 27 North Shore Health Board meeting. @ North Shore Health Region (NSHR)_ medical health officer Dr. Brian O'Connor compared statistics from the North Shore Health Profile with those from the provincial health officer’s. a Chairman Diana Hutchinson attended the Minister of Health’s Advisory Committee on Regionalization and advised the minister that the NSHR board hopes to receive confir- mation of three new health directors to fill current vacan- cies as soon as possible. M@ The ministry-appointed consultation team’s report to identify and recommend ways to resolve issues between the board, management and medical staff is expected to be completed by Jan. 15. : @ A newly formed NSHR/ municipal /school board liaison task group will mect regularly to share infor- mation and discuss issues.that affect the health status of the North Shore population. @ The board recommends that a strategic alliance be struck between the NSHR board and the recreation commission reflecting their similar goals and objectives and that this network be expanded to include Bowen Island and Lions Bay. @ The board referred a request for support from the Naz Foundation of Canada to the community group (Cultural Diversity Reference Group) involved in establish- ing the board’s multicultural advisory group. @ The board approved the request for ministry funding of $525,000 to cover 60% of the capital equipment costs for neurosurgical equipment ($600,000); a cell counter ($175,000); and a Yag laser ($100,000). The Lions Gate Hospital Foundation is pre- pared to cover the 40% bal- ance ($350,000). In addition ° the board approved the pur- chase of a new ultrasound scanner based on aa estimat- ed group purchase price of $243,000.
