CAN cleans up

THE LOWER Lonsdale
Community Action Network
(CAN) is organizing a commu-
nity beautification day on
Saturday, Feb. 10,

The event is being held to show
community spirit and get ready for the
B.C, Winter Games. The games will
take place Feb, 22-25 at various
venues in North Vancouver,

On Feb. 10, members of CAN and
volunteers will meet at 9:45 am. at
North Shore Harvest, 166 West
Esplanade. form into teams and work
for two hours to brighten up the heart
of che neighborhood. At noon there
will be refreshments back at North
Shore Harvest for all the volunteers.

The management of Famous
Players Esplanade 6 Cinemas will
host a free family movie event the fol-
lowing weekend to thank volunteers.

to volunteer for beautification day,

Close to 3,000 people have
already signed up to assist with the
B.C. Winter Games yet organizers are
hoping to net another 1,000 volun-
teers before the games begin.

Volunteers are needed in the areas
of food services, supervision of ath-
letes’ dormitory-style accommoda-
tions, security, cultural and special
events.

Registration forms can be picked
up at the games office, 207 - 123 E.
15th St., North Van, or at any North
Vancouver recreation _ centre.
Completed forms must be retumed to
